Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman investor, speaker, consultant, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001 and shortly after, she left the company. Corcoran, one of ABC's original Shark investors has been part of each episode of Shark Tank. In February 2020, Corcoran had made 53 deals, with the most significant being a $350,000 deal that covered 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 from a working-class Irish-Catholic family, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. Her father was always changing jobs during Corcoran’s life. Her family frequently depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her fatheras one who would drink too much, and behaved towards her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed some drinks. Corcoran was a troubled pupil throughout her schooling. Corcoran later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended a Catholic elementary school. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
